Canines & Corn

Pet Blessing and Picnic

On Saturday, September 14th, Salem UMC invites the entire community—two-legged, four-legged, furry, feathered, or scaled—to join us for a special worship service celebrating the gift of our animal companions. During the service, we will offer blessings for pets, giving thanks for the joy, comfort, and companionship they bring to our lives.

After worship, stay and enjoy a church picnic featuring delicious boiled corn and fellowship with friends (both human and animal!). A sign-up sheet for additional food contributions will be available in the narthex—everyone is welcome to bring a dish to share.

We hope you’ll join us for this joyful day of community, connection, and celebration of God’s creatures.

“But ask the animals, and they will teach you; the birds of the air, and they will tell you; ask the plants of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of every human being.” — Job 12:7–10 (NRSVUE)
