Accountable Leadership Board
Salem UMC is moving forward in our mission of “Reaching Out with God’s Love and Grace” by officially adopting a new leadership structure — the Accountable Leadership Board (ALB). At our Charge Conference on October 19th, members voted to move into this new governance model designed to help us maximize ministry and focus on missions.
This simplified structure allows us to:
Streamline decision-making and reduce administrative burdens.
Empower ministry teams to form for specific purposes and disband once their work is complete.
Encourage creativity and discipleship, freeing members to vision ministry in new and inventive ways.
Align our work more closely with God’s mission, focusing our energy on making disciples rather than maintaining committees.
In the coming months, we will hold an orientation and retreat for our new ALB to discern our “God-sized goal” for disciple-making. In December/January, we look forward to hosting our first ALB Town Hall, where the board will engage with the congregation and continue shaping our shared vision for ministry.
As we embrace this new chapter, we remain grounded in Jesus’ Great Commission:
Matthew 28:19–20
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Together, let’s continue moving forward — faithfully and boldly — toward God’s purpose for our church and our community.
