Shalom to Home Kits

The Shalom to Home program began in the fall of 2018. To date, Living Waters has provided 462 kits to 154 families. Each family receives 3 kits (Cleaning, Bathroom, Kitchen) in tubs provided by Living Waters. This ongoing ministry is much appreciated by the Shalom Center so they can help people live on their own.

Please sign up in the Narthex for donating items to help people transition to independence in a first home.

All Shalom to Home donations go to the Shalom Center in Kenosha. This need is very real and ongoing. Please continue keep it in mind.

Caring Ministry Needs Addresses

We have a mission to send cards out to people on our prayer list. This mission is part of our caring for those in the community and is part of our hospitality. Most prayer concerns don’t include an address, so a card cannot be sent. Please put an address on your prayer concern so we can send a card. If you don’t want a card sent, please indicate that.

Safe Sanctuary Policy

Our Safe Sanctuary policy requires a criminal records check for all adults who work with our children. They are valid for 5 years. Request forms are available on the round table in the narthex. Please return the forms to Regina McKillips. She will lock them in the safe for Mindy.

From the Finance Committee

All expenses to be reimbursed by the church need to be turned in to the church treasurer within 30 days of occurrence. Funds request forms can be found in the treasurer’s mailbox outside the workroom office or on the back counter of the workroom office.

All Pastoral expenses will be from January through June and July through December (inclusive of all except Annual Conference expenses) with budgeted monies to be limited to 50% of yearly budget for each 6 month time period.

Soup Kitchen

Salem UMC has the privilege of serving at the Shalom Center Soup Kitchen on the fifth Thursday of a month. We make soup, enough sandwiches for everyone to take home after dinner and serve a hot meal provided by the Shalom Center to as many as 125 people or even more sometimes. The whole process takes about 2 1/2 hours some time between 2:00 and 5:30 p.m. (depending on which you choose – soup or sandwiches or serving). There is no cleanup. The center handles that. That is a very tiny gift of your time to provide so much for so many. We also donate money to the Soup Kitchen for milk – just mark your contribution “MILK” and drop it in the collection plate. If you would like to help make an “Impact on Your Community” sign up on the sheet found on the information board in the fellowship area – or call the church office at 1-262-843-2525 to get your name on the list.
